8 things learned after Living in China for 13 years

I went through my journal and when I first arrived in China I met a French guy that told me he had been living in China for 13 years. I asked him if there is anything I should know about China and this is what he told me. (I had been in China for only two weeks at this point)

After Living in China for 13 years here is what he experienced.

The mentality here is still boss and slave, it is not people are equals like in other countries.Living in China, Chinese culture, Real China

There is really no value for anyone other than themselves. It is because here, unlike the West where a child is part of a family, here the child is everything in the family. Now, it is especially bad with only one child per family because they are raised to think of themselves as the king.

When you’re at diner and people say cheers you place your cup where you belong socially among the group. This means that the boss has his class above everyone at the table. If it is equals with someone then the boss considers that person an equal and everyone must obey this.

There are a lot of people richer than is reported. It is because everything is paid is cash so there is no record of things. If someone is asked though how much they make they always report less so they don’t have to pay taxes.

The one child policy, is a bunch of rubbish. There are so many ways to get around this rule that it is almost like it does not exist. This is true with there one dog rule and no big dog rule.

The reason the country is growing so fast is not because they are great business men, but because there are so many of them to do everything.

There thinking is not like that of stopping a problem, but of avoiding a problem. If the problem is there they just go around it, and that problem still exist.

All the giant business that are opening up and already here are not Chinese business, but actually own by outside countries, US, Japan, Europe.
